The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Alumni Hall of Fame is a who’s who of notable figures. Each year, the organization inducts a new class of former club members who have exemplified how membership in BGCA can serve as a springboard to success. Let’s look at the seven members of the 2024 class.
1. Ronnie DeVoe
This singer found fame in the ‘80s and ‘90s as a member of New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe. A former member of the Boston Boys Club, he later excelled in business as the proprietor of DeVoe Real Estate in Atlanta. Committed to giving back to his community, he is an advocate for fair housing and the founder of the charitable program Bikes & Backpacks.
2. Alyse Eady
The public-speaking skills this former Southwest Regional Youth of the Year developed as a member of Fort Smith Boys and Girls Clubs in Arkansas helped her become Miss Arkansas and a Miss America first-runner up. These skills continue to benefit today in her career as an Emmy-winning television reporter and anchor in Atlanta.
3. Andre Iguodala
A former member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois, Andre Iguodala won four NBA titles, an NBA Finals MVP, and an Olympic gold medal over his storied basketball career. To give back to the organization that supported him as a youth, he remains active with his local club.
4. William Joseph
This pianist’s music education was made possible in large part through a scholarship he earned through his local Phoenix club. Best known for his composition “O, America,” he works to ensure young people have the same opportunities he had by raising money for his local club.
5. Fred McGriff
The World Series champion still remembers the friendships he formed as a youth at his Tampa, Florida, club. One of the great power hitters of his era, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2023 and continues to support BGCA.
6. Will Reeve
Will Reeve’s career in television has taken him from the MSG Network and ESPN to ABC News. He routinely appears on programs like Good Morning America and World News Tonight. The son of actor Christopher Reeve and his wife, Dana, he is on the board of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
7. Al Roker
This three-time Daytime Emmy-winning weather anchor and journalist found the community he needed as a member the Brownsville Boys Club in Brooklyn. Known for his work on the Today show and other television programs, he has leveraged his fame to raise millions of dollars for charity.
