Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) brightens the future of more than 3 million young people each year through their life-changing programs and services. The nonprofit’s ability to offer these programs and services comes in part due to the support of partners like T-Mobile.

Since 2020, the wireless carrier has worked to bridge the digital divide by bringing affordable Internet access to the nation’s youth. So far, through its $10.7 billion Project 10Million (P10M), it has delivered digital connectivity to 6 million students.

In the years since the project’s launch, however, the need for digital connectivity has only increased. According to BGCA, the use of technology in education has skyrocketed by 226 percent as students require increased amounts of data to complete their schoolwork.

Recognizing the rising need, T-Mobile has recently enhanced P10M. Beginning in September 2024, qualifying kindergarten and grade-school students will now receive 200 GB of data per year, more than twice the previous amount. Qualifying families will also have the opportunity to purchase heavily discounted additional data. In addition, school districts that serve significant numbers of financially disadvantaged students may qualify for as much as 200 GB of added data.

To help spread the word about the program, T-Mobile is partnering with BGCA to hold sign-up events across the country. In September, the organizations gathered in Dallas and the Bronx, New York, for events that were presented in collaboration with activist and Grammy Award-winning musician Common. (Families may also enroll in in P10M plans on T-Mobile’s website.)

In a statement, Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile, said that the enhancements to P10M will enable the program to have an even bigger impact. Jim Clark, BGCA’s president and CEO, added that through the partnership with T-Mobile, more of the club’s young members will have access to tools that enable them to “unlock their full potential.”
